Women's Tennis Team Downs Dominican

ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College women's tennis team kicked off the 2009 season on a high note by blanking Dominican University 9-0.
The Bluejays swept all six singles matches and the three doubles contests en route to the victory.
Virgina Dallman scored a 6-0, 6-0 win over Kaitlyn Seldal at No. 1 singles. Shannon Dale added a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles while Stephanie Ruff earned a 6-0, 6-3 win over Viatra Baker at No. 3 singles. Donna McKinney added a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 4 singles while Blaire Hufford toppled Bethany Ortiz 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 singles. Alexis Ross closed out the Bluejays' scoring in singles play with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.
The duo of Dallman and Dale scored an 8-2 win over Seldal and Baker at No. 1 doubles. McKinney and Hufford followed with an 8-0 shutout win at No. 2 doubles while Ruff and Emily Tarlini teamed up for an 8-3 win over Courtney Bates and Jennifer Alcantara at No. 3 doubles.
The Bluejays travel to Carthage College on Saturday, September 5, for a CCIW doubleheader against Carthage and Augustana College.
