Tethnie Werner
Head Coach

Tethnie Werner enters the 2008 season in her second year as the head coach of the Elmhurst College women's tennis team. She is also the head coach of the College's women's basketball team.

In her first season as the Bluejays' tennis coach, Werner guided Elmhurst to a 4-8 overall record and a sixth-place finish at the 2007 CCIW Championships.

Werner, who served as an assistant basketball coach at Elmhurst from 2002-2006, spent the 2006-07 season as an assistant basketball coach at Lake Superior State University

While at Lake Superior Sate, Werner helped guide the Lakers to an 18-9 overall record during the 2006-07 season while also serving as the team's recruiting coordinator.

As an assistant coach for the Bluejays, Werner served as the head junior varsity coach and helped lead the Bluejay women to two of their most successful seasons. Elmhurst closed out the 2004-05 season with a 15-11 mark and qualified for its first ever CCIW Tournament appearance. In 2005-06, the Bluejays finished 17-8, the team's best finish since the 1985-86 season. It marked only the second time in school history that the team posted back-to-back seasons of at least 15 wins. The 2005-06 squad’s 7-7 record in CCIW play, marked its best league record in 15 years.

Prior to arriving at Elmhurst, Werner spent several years coaching at the high school level including stops at Lyndon High School (Lyndon, Kan.), Emporia High School (Emporia, Kan.) and Jefferson High School (Conception Jct., Mo.).

A 1999 graduate of Emporia State University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in physical education, Werner spent a season as a member of the school's NCAA Division II basketball team.

Werner received a Master of Science in Education degree in physical education and coaching from Ball State University in 2005.

Werner currently resides in Downers Grove.
