Softball Team Blanked Twice by Aurora

ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College softball team was shut out in both ends of a doubleheader to Aurora University. The Bluejays dropped game one 8-0 and fell 10-0 in game two. The losses dropped the Bluejays to 9-21 on the season.
AURORA 8, ELMHURST 0 - Aurora's Nicole Capone limited Elmhurst to only two hits in six innings en route to an 8-0 win for the Spartans. Capone walked just one and fanned five.
Aurora broke the game open with four runs in the fourth, with three coming on a bases clearing double by Dana Cebular. The Spartans put the game away in the sixth with four more runs.
Ashley Grice (Kirkwood, Mo./H.S.) and Rachel Pietrucha (Orland Hills/Andrew) each recorded a hit in the loss.
Jaci Hall (Naperville/Waubonsie Valley) took the loss from the circle. Hall worked 5.2 innings and allowed eight runs (four earned) on six hits.
AURORA 10, ELMHURST 0 - Aurora jumped out to a 2-0 lead after two batters and never looked back, cruising to a 10-0 five inning win. Rena Cebular tripled to lead off the game and Nikki Veen followed with a two-run homer to give the Spartans a quick lead. Aurora broke the game open in the third inning by sending 14 batters to the plate and scoring eight runs.
The Bluejays were held to four hits in the loss.
Vanessa Kalal (Montgomery/Oswego) took the loss, working 2.2 innings and allowed seven runs on seven hits. She walked five in the loss.
Elmhurst hosts Nebraska Wesleyan University on Saturday, April 21.
