Elmhurst Softball Team Drops Pair at Whitewater

WHITEWATER, Wis. - The Elmhurst College softball dropped to 13-21 after dropping a pair of games to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Whitewater (34-3) rallied to win game one 8-3, and scored a 7-3 win in the night cap.
The Bluejays have now dropped nine straight games, and 16 of their last 17 contests.
WHITEWATER 8, ELMHURST 3 (Game One) - UW-Whitewater erased a 3-0 deficit by scoring all eight of its runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Elmhurst took advantage of several Warhawk errors to score three unearned runs and open up a 3-0 lead. The Bluejays retired the first batter in the bottom of the sixth before the wheels fell off. Back-to-back singles, followed by a walk loaded the bases. Consecutive singles followed by a wild pitch knotted the score at three. A two-run single and a three-run home run followed to give Whitewater the 8-3 lead.
Mo Roderick, Rachel Hartman, and Melissa McCarthy all drove in a run for the Bluejays in the loss.
Lindsay Nauman (6-10) took the loss for Elmhurst. Nauman allowed seven hits and six earned runs in 5.1 innings of work. She walked seven and struck out one.
WHITEWATER 7, ELMHURST 3 (Game Two) - Whitewater completed the doubleheader sweep by scoring a 7-3 win over the Bluejays in game number two.
With the game tied at one, Whitewater used a five-run third inning to open up a 6-1 lead en route to the 7-3 win.
Sarah Cademartori recorded two of Elmhurst's five hits and drove in a run in the loss. Maggie Yagen and Ashley Grice each added an RBI in the loss.
Vanessa Kalal (4-9) took the loss for Elmhurst. Kalal allowed 11 hits and five earned run in six innings of work. She walked three and struck out three in the loss.
