Three Bluejays Earn All-CCIW Honors

ELMHURST, Ill. - Three members of the Elmhurst College softball team have earned all-conference recognition. Beth Cann earned first team honors while Amanda Bowlin and Mo Roderick were selected to the second team.

Cann, a senior outfielder, earned her second straight all-conference honor after being named to the second team in 2007. Cann finished the season with a .272 average. Cann ranked second on the squad in runs scored (21), runs batted in (20), and doubles (eight). She also led the squad in triples with three. Cann saved some of her best performances for CCIW games. In league contests she hit  .426 (fourth in the league) while ranking second in the league in RBI (13).

Roderick, a sophomore third baseman, finished second on the squad with a .365 batting average. She also led the squad in slugging percentage (.500).  In CCIW games, Roderick ranked eighth in the league with a .406 average.

Bowlin, a freshman infielder, led the Bluejays at the plate, batting a team-high .370. She also led the Bluejays in hits (44), walks (13) and on-base percentage (.436). She ranked second on the team in doubles (eight) and ranked third on the squad in RBI with 17.  In CCIW play, Bowlin hit .364 with 16 hits, two doubles and five RBI.

Elmhurst finished the season with a 12-25 overall record and a 4-10 mark in the CCIW.
