Game Two Box Score
ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College softball team slipped to 4-6 in CCIW play following a pair of losses to 25th-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University. Elmhurst (12-17 overall) dropped game one 2-1 and fell to Illinois Wesleyan (26-7) 10-5 in the night cap.
ILLINOIS WESLEYAN 2, ELMHURST 1 - Despite outhitting the Titans 6-4, the Bluejays dropped a close 2-1 contest in the first game of the doubleheader.
Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the sixth, Becca Zumpf (Frankfort/Lincoln-Way East) roped a one-out single. Beth Cann (Peotone/H.S.) reached on a fielder's choice with Zumpf being forced out at second. Amanda Bowlin (Ballwin, Mo./Marquette) doubled to left center to drive home Cann and even the score.
A lead-off walk came back to haunt the Bluejays in the top of the seventh. Natalie Chase led off with a walk and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. A ground out moved Chase to third. Lisa Narotsky grounded to short and just beat the throw to first to drive home the game-winning run.

ILLINOIS WESLEYAN 10, ELMHURST 5 - Elmhurst slipped to 12-17 overall following a 10-5 loss to Illinois Wesleyan in game two of the doubleheader.
Trailing 3-0 after three innings, the Bluejays grabbed their only lead of the game in the fourth by scoring four times. After Cann tripled, Rachel Pietrucha (Orland Hills/Andrew) followed with an RBI triple. After an error on the Titans allowed Michelle Fournier (Oak Lawn/Richards) to reach base, Rachel Hartman (Collinsville, Mo./H.S.) smashed a three-run homer to put Elmhurst up 4-3.
The Bluejays' lead was short lived, however, as Illinois Wesleyan scored five times in the bottom of the fourth to take an 8-3 lead and put the game out of reach.
Pietrucha, Zumpf, and Cann all recorded two hits to lead the Bluejays' offense in the loss.
Jaci Hall (Naperville/Waubonsie Valley) suffered the loss. Hall worked 3.1 innings and allowed seven hits and six earned runs. She walked two and struck out two.
