Softball Team Splits Pair With North Central

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Elmhurst College softball team moved to 2-4 in CCIW play after splitting a doubleheader at North Central College.

Elmhurst (6-15 overall) dropped game one 4-2, but bounced back to earn a 1-0 walk-off win in the night cap.

NORTH CENTRAL 4, ELMHURST 2 - North Central score three times in the bottom of the sixth to earn the come-from-behind win over the Bluejays.

Elmhurst grabbed a 2-1 lead in the top of the sixth on an Amanda Bowlin (Ballwin, Mo./Marquette) RBI single. 

The Cardinals answered back in the bottom of the frame, tying the game on a Kara Reid RBI single. Alysaa Rabulinski delivered a two-run pinch-hit single to put the Cardinals on top.

Bowlin led the Bluejays' offense, finishing 3-for-3 at the plate and driving in both Elmhurst runs.

Vanessa Kalal (Montgomery/Oswego) took the loss, allowing eight hits and four runs in six innings of work. She walked two while striking out five.

ELMHURST 1, NORTH CENTRAL 0 - The Bluejays earned the doubleheader split by earning a 1-0 walk-off win over the Cardinals.

With the game scoreless in the bottom of the seventh, Bowlin led off with triple. Rachel Pietrucha (Orland Hills/Andrew) lofted a shallow sacrifice fly that drove in Bowlin and gave the Bluejays the win.

Bowlin recorded two of the Bluejays' three hits and scored the game's only run.

Jaci Hall (Naperville/Waubonsie Valley) earned the victory for the Bluejays. Hall kept the Cardinals' offense in check, allowing only four hits and two walks in seven innings. She struck out five in the complete game shutout.
