Softball Team Splits With Judson

ELGIN, Ill. - The Elmhurst College softball team moved to 5-12 after splitting a doubleheader with Judson University. Judson downed Elmhurst 11-3 in game one, but Elmhurst bounced back to take game two 10-6.
JUDSON 11, ELMHURST 3 - Trailing 3-2, Judson broke the game open by scoring six runs in the fourth inning and adding three more runs in the fifth.
Elmhurst was limited to only four hits in the five inning contest. The Bluejay defense also committed four errors, leading to eight unearned runs.
Jill Karsa (Downers Grove/Downers Grove South) drove in two runs for the Bluejays while Beth Cann (Peotone/H.S.) scored a pair.
Vanessa Kalal (Montgomery/Oswego) took the loss in relief. Kalal allowed six hits and nine runs (only two earned) in 3.2 innings of work. She walked four while striking out three.
ELMHURST 10, JUDSON 6 - Elmhurst scored seven times in the first inning and finished the game with 16 hits while scoring a 10-6 win over Judson.
Lauren Ventrella (Orland Hills/Andrew) and Michelle Fournier (Oak Lawn/Richards) sparked the Bluejay offense. Ventrella finished 3-for-5 at the plate with a double and a solo home run. She drove in three while scoring a pair of runs. Fournier finished 3-for-4 with a double. She also drove in three runs in the win. Amanda Bowlin (Ballwin, Mo./Marquette) added a pair of hits in the win.
Jaci Hall (Naperville/Waubonsie Valley) earned the win for the Bluejays. Hall scattered seven hits and five earned runs over seven innings. She walked four and struck out seven.
