Bluejay Golfers Take Second at Knox Invite
GALESBURG, Ill. - The Elmhurst College women's golf team continued its strong start to the 2009 season by placing second at the Knox College Invitational.
The Bluejays shot a 344 to place second, finishing 15 strokes behind Maryville University (329) for the team title.
A pair of Bluejays earned top-five individual finishes. Whitney Heinzmann shot an 80 to tie for second place while Emily Labrecque fired an 84 to tie for fifth place. Abby Gammage shot an 87 to take 12th place while Kelly Partyka shot a 93 to tie for 22nd place. Trisha Goss rounded out the Bluejays' scoring by shooting a 96 and tying for 32nd place.
Elmhurst entered a second team of competitors that placed 10th in the team standings with a 398. Courtney Classen and Jorianne Maritato both shot a 98 to tie for 35th place. Devin Wangler finished a stroke behind with a 99 (tied for 40th) while Amanda Wright shot a 103 to tie for 46th place. Christine Moran tied for 66th place by shooting a 119.
