Elmhurst Bowlers Post 4-10 Mark at Greater Ozark Invite
ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Elmhurst College women's bowling team, ranked 14th in the latest NTCA Poll, moved its record to 40-27 overall after posting a 4-10 record at the three-day Greater Ozark Invitational.
All of Elmhurst's losses came to teams ranked in front of the Bluejays in the latest NTCA poll.
The tournament began with alternating-bowler Baker matches. The Bluejays suffered a 1013-960 loss to sixth-ranked Arkansas State University and then were defeated 997-820 by 12th-ranked Minnesota State University-Mankato. Elmhurst snapped its two-game skid with a 917-812 win over Fontbonne University. The Bluejays closed the day with a 957-877 loss to ninth-ranked Central Missouri State University.
On Saturday, the Bluejays began with an 844-774 win over Grand Canyon University. Shannon Grimes paced the Bluejays in the win by rolling a 200. The Bluejays then knocked off Fontbonne 888-664 behind Becky Wright's 202 and Sarah Paul's 197. Elmhurst fell to Arkansas State 924-827 despite Paul rolling a 186. The Bluejays then fell to Central Missouri 967-839 and top-ranked Vanderbilt University 1087-849. Ann Bialk led the Bluejays in the loss to Central Missouri with a 182 while Bethany Holden bowled a 194 to pace Elmhurst in the loss to Vanderbilt.
On Sunday, the Bluejays fell to second-ranked University of Nebraska 1009-841. Holden and Amanda Warwick each bowled a 181 to lead Elmhurst in the loss. The Bluejays then fell to Minnesota-Mankato 1025-803 despite Warwick's 186. The final three matches were best-of-seven Baker matches. The Bluejays fell to Arkansas State 4-1 before defeating Grand Canon 4-2. The Bluejays closed out the tournament with a 4-3 loss to Nebraska.
Elmhurst plays at the Fontbonne University Tournament on February 6-8.
