Bluejay Bowling Team Posts 7-8 Mark at Maverick Challenge
OAK FOREST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College women's bowling team posted a 7-8 record over three days at the Maverick Challenge. Elmhurst moved to 14-18 overall.
The Bluejays posted a 2-3 record on day one of the tournament, defeating Grambling State (933-832) and Florida A&M 852-805. The Bluejays dropped matches to Nebraska (877-939), UW-Whitewater (788-866) and Southern University (823-876). Bethany Holden (Freeport/H.S.) rolled a 203 in the loss against UW-Whitewater to record the Bluejays' high-score for the day.
Elmhurst kicked off the second day with a pair of wins, defeating Central Missouri (993-948) and Fontbonne 899-813. The Bluejays dropped their final three contests of the day, falling to Alabama A&M (805-885), Minnesota-Mankato (803-948) and Nebraska (793-969). Katie Gilman (River Grove/East Leyden) kicked off the day with a bang, bowling a 279 against Central Missouri. The score was the highest of the tournament and also a new Elmhurst record. Gilman rolled 11 strikes. Sarah Paul (Naperville/Central) also had a strong match against Fontbonne, rolling a 258.
The Bluejays wrapped up the tournament with a 3-2 record, starting the day with wins against Grambling State (902-859), Florida A&M (891-660) and UW-Whitewater (905-865). The Bluejays dropped their final two matches against Southern (882-906) and Central Missouri (886-1004). Gilman's 204 against Grambling was the Bluejays' top score of the day.
