Bluejay Women's Hoops Team Falls to Anderson

ANDERSON, Ind. - The Elmhurst College women's basketball team dropped its fifth straight game, falling to 4-7 overall, following a 67-60 loss at Anderson University.

Anderson (8-5) led 36-34 at the break after shooting 50.0 percent (15-of-30) from the floor. The Bluejays were also hot in the first half, hitting 48.4 percent (15-of-31) of their shots.

Elmhurst went cold in the second half, hitting only 10-of-32 attempts (31.3 percent) from the floor. The Bluejays struggled from beyond the arc as well, shooting only 9.1 percent (1-of-11) from long range. 

Anderson was led by Stacie Jennings' career-high 23 points on 10-of-17 shooting from the floor.  Melinda Hawthorne added 12 points and eight boards while Kayla Martin and Chelsea Haines each finished with 10 points.

The Bluejays were led by 16 points and seven rebounds from Brittany Bobruk (Darien/Downers Grove South). Maggie McTeague (Oak Forest/H.S.) added 12 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the floor.

Anderson finished the contest shooting 46.4 percent (26-of-56) from the floor and 40 percent (4-of-10) from 3-point range.  Elmhurst shot 39.7 percent from the field (25-of-63) while its long range shooting struggled. Over a third of the Bluejays' 63 shots came from beyond the arc, connecting on only 5-of-24 attempts (20.8 percent).
