Furr Named Player of the Week

ELMHURST, Ill., December 13, 2005 – Elmhurst College women's basketball player Heather Furr (Plainfield-H.S.) has been named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's (CCIW) Player of the Week.

Furr, a senior forward, scored 65 points on the week while leading the Bluejays to three wins. On Tuesday (December 6), she scored a career-high 30 points on 12-of-17 shooting (5-of-5 from 3-point range) in the Bluejays' win over Benedictine University. On Thursday (December 8), she scored 11 points, grabbed nine rebounds and dished out seven assists in Elmhurst's win over Dominican University. On Saturday (December 10), she had a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds in the team's win over Judson College.

For the week, she finished with 65 points on 23-of-40 shooting (57.5 percent) while adding 22 rebounds, 15 assists and 11 steals.

As a junior, Furr started all 26 games last year and averaged 11.4 points per game while leading the team in assists. Prior to joining the Bluejays, she spent two years at Valparaiso University where she was a walk-on member of the basketball team.

The Elmhurst women's basketball team is off to a 7-1 start on the season and plays at Coe College on Saturday, December 17.
