Women's Hoops Team Downs Coe

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Elmhurst College women's basketball team improved to 8-1 on the season with a 61-47 road victory at Coe College.
The Bluejays led from start to finish and carried a 28-21 lead into the locker room at halftime. Coe (2-6 overall) pulled to within three points at 32-29 early in the second half, but the Bluejays slowly pulled away, extending their lead to as many as 17 points.
Elmhurst finished the game shooting 44.8 percent from the floor (26-of-58) and 40 percent (4-of-10) from beyond the 3-point arc. Coe finished the contest shooting 35 percent (14-of-40) from the field and 33.3 percent (2-of-6) from downtown. Coe hit 17-of-26 free throw attempts (65.4 percent) while Elmhurst sank 5-of-6 attempts from the foul line.
Aja Terrie (Evanston-Township) and Heather Furr (Plainfield-H.S.) each poured in 17 points to pace the Bluejays. Terrier led the team on the glass with eight rebounds while Furr dished out five assists. Ashley Stein (Mundelein-H.S.) added 11 points. Candice Sutton (Matteson-Rich South) added six points and five assists. Vicky Miner (Evanston-Township) led the team in assists with six.
Coe was led by Amber Karkosh's 12 points. Jamie Kreall added 10 points in the loss while Morgan Bailey finished with six points and nine rebounds.
Elmhurst wraps up its two-game road trip through Iowa on Monday (December 19) when Elmhurst plays at Central College.
