Women's Hoops Team Falls to Third-Ranked Hope

ORLANDO, Fla. - (December 15, 2008) - The Elmhurst College women's basketball team fell to 5-4 overall following a 72-49 loss to third-ranked Hope College in the first round of the RDV Sportsplex Tournament in Orlando.

Hope (7-0) led from start to finish, building a 39-22 halftime lead. Hope continued to pull away in the second half and cruised to the 72-49 win.

Elmhurst shot a season-low 24.6 percent (16-of-65) from the floor and shot 30.0 percent (3-of-10) from downtown. Elmhurst turned the ball over 22 times, leading to 20 Hope points.

Hope finished the contest shooting 41.1 percent (30-of-73) from the floor, including 27.8 percent (5-of-18) from 3-point range.

Brittany Bobruk recorded her second straight double-double, totaling 10 points and 11 rebounds. Lyndsie Long scored a team-high 13 rebounds in the loss.

Hope was led by Carrie Snikker's 22 points on 10-of-15 shooting. Philana Greene added 12 points while Jenny Cowen and Erika Bruinsma finished with nine points apiece.

Elmhurst faces Lawrence University tomorrow (December 16) in the tournament's second round.
