Pair of Bluejays Earn All-CCIW Honors

ELMHURST, Ill. - A pair of Elmhurst College women's basketball players have been named to the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's all-conference squad. Lyndsie Long (Sugar Grove/Kaneland) was named to the first team while Brittany Bobruk (Darien/Downers Grove South) was a third-team selection.

Long, a sophomore forward, was a unanimous first-team selection after earning third-team honors the previous season. Long led the team in scoring by averaging 16.7 points per game. She also ranked second on the team in rebounding, pulling down an average of 5.5 boards per game. Long also led the team in field goal percentage (.483) and 3-pointers made (36).

Long turned in some of her best performances in CCIW contests. She ranked second in the league in scoring, averaging 18.1 points in CCIW games. She ranked fourth in the league in 3-point field goal percentage (.423) and finished fifth in the league standings in 3-pointers made (22).

Bobruk, a junior forward, earned her first all-conference honor by averaging 11.3 points and 6.9 rebounds per game for the Bluejays. Her scoring average ranked second on the team while her rebounding average was a team high. She also led the team in blocked shots (20).

In CCIW games, she ranked 15th in the league in scoring (10.1 ppg) and finished third in the conference in rebounding (8.1 per game). Bobruk also ranked third in the league in steals (28) and finished fifth in the league standings in blocked shots (12).

After finishing 6-19 during the 2006-07 campaign, the Bluejays wrapped up the 2007-2008 season with a 12-14 overall record. The squad also improved by six games in the league standings, finishing fourth in the CCIW with an 8-6 conference mark.   The Bluejays also qualified for the CCIW tournament for the first time in three seasons.
