ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College women's basketball team ran its College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) record to 3-1 by hammering North Park University 83-55.

Elmhurst (7-8 overall) led from start to finish, never trailing in the contest. The Bluejays led 12-0 before North Park got on the scoreboard. A 14-3 run midway through the half gave  Elmhurst a 31-10 lead with 8:19 left.  The Bluejays pushed their lead to 46-14 with just under five minutes to play in the half and led 53-26 at the break.

Elmhurst continued to pull away in the second half, opening up a 77-42 lead with 8:22 to play. The Bluejays then cruised to the 83-55 victory.

Elmhurst shot 45.6 percent (31-of-68) from the floor and 55.0 percent (11-of-20) from beyond the arc. North Park (2-13 overall, 0-4 CCIW) shot 35.7 percent from the field (20-of-56) and 46.2 percent (6-of-13) from downtown.

Elmhurst forced 24 North Park turnovers which the Bluejays converted into 36 points. The Bluejays also outscored the Vikings 18-0 on fast breaks. Elmhurst enjoyed a 45-31 edge in rebounding.

Lyndsie Long (Sugar Grove/Kaneland) led all scorers with 20 points on 7-of-8 shooting, including a perfect 5-of-5 from downtown. Kelsey Monroe (West Chicago/H.S.) added 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Sarah Halbrader (Rockford/Boylan) added 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc. Brittany Bobruk (Darien/Downers Grove South) and Amber Hendricks (Farmer City/Blue Ridge) each added six points in the win.

North Park was led by LaRae Kostreva's 17 points and seven rebounds. Stylianee Damianides added 12 points and Andrea Perez finished with 10.

Elmhurst hosts Illinois Wesleyan University on Tuesday, January 22, at 7:30 p.m.
