Women's Hoops Team Falls to Trinity

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Elmhurst College women's basketball team slipped to 3-6 on the season following an 80-65 loss to Trinity University (Texas) in the first round of the Trinity University Holiday Tournament.

Elmhurst (3-6) led by as many as 10 points in the first half and carried a 41-33 lead into the locker room at halftime. Trinity (7-1) outscored the Bluejays 47-24 in the second half to come away with the win.

Elmhurst shot 34.8 percent (23-of-66) from the floor and only 27.3 percent (6-of-22) from 3-point range. Trinity finished the contest hitting 46.0 percent (23-of-50) of its shots from the field and 38.5 percent (5-of-13) from the beyond the arc. Trinity also hit 74.4 percent of its free throws, converting 29-of-39 attempts.

Lyndsie Long (Sugar Grove/Kaneland) led the Bluejays with 19 points on 6-of-16 shooting. Brittany Bobruk (Darien/Downers Grove South) added 11 points and four boards in the loss. Amber Hendricks (Farmer City/Blue Ridge) came off the bench to score 10 points for the Bluejays.

Trinity was led by 19 points from Meghan Scholbe. Megan D'Errico added 12 points while Tierney Hughes chipped in 11.

Elmhurst faces Mary Hardin-Baylor tomorrow in the second round of the tournament.
