Women's Hoops Team Topples Clarke 74-51

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -The Elmhurst College women's basketball team scored its first win of the 2007-08 season by routing Clarke College 74-51 in the consolation game of the Lake Forest College Tournament.
After trailing 17-11 in the opening half, the Bluejays closed the half on a 32-7 run to grab a commanding 43-24 lead at half time. The Bluejays continued to pull away in the second half, leading by as many as 26, and cruising to the 74-51 win.
The Bluejays shot 43.1 percent (25-of-58) from the floor and 45.5 percent (5-of-11) from 3-point range. Clarke finished the contest shooting 38.0 percent (19-of-50) from the floor and only 20.0 percent (2-of-10) from beyond the arc. Elmhurst won the battle on the glass, outrebounding Clarke 39-34.
Lyndsie Long (Sugar Grove/Kaneland) led the way for Elmhurst, scoring 16 points and pulling down seven rebounds. Danielle Farrell (Elk Grove Village/Elk Grove) added 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting. Brittany Bobruk (Darien/Downers Grove South) added 13 points and five boards while Kelsey Monroe (West Chicago/H.S.) came off the bench to score 10. Michelle Gilliard (Chicago/Harlan) scored eight in the Bluejays' win.
Bobruk and Long were both named to the all-tournament team for their play.
Clarke was led by Mariah Bolin's 20 points. Laura Gaylord chipped in with 13.
Elmhurst plays host to Albion College on Tuesday, November 20, at 6:00 p.m.
