Women's Basketball Team Tabbed For Sixth
ELMHURST, Ill. - After returning four starters and landing a solid recruiting class, the Elmhurst College women's basketball team has been picked to place sixth in the CCIW in the annual pre-season poll of the league's coaches.
Elmhurst finished sixth in the poll with 19 points, just one point behind North Central College for fifth place.
Illinois Wesleyan University, a NCAA Tournament team last season, has been picked to capture the league title with 47 points (five first-place votes). Millikin University finished second in the poll with with 42 points and the final three first-place votes.
Defending CCIW champion Wheaton College has been picked for third with 37 points. Carthage College finished the poll in fourth place with 34 points.
North Park University was tabbed for seventh place with 14 points. Augustana College rounded out the poll in eighth place with 11 points.
Each coach votes for the seven other schools in the league but is not allowed to vote for their own team.
Elmhurst begins the 2007-08 season by playing at the Lake Forest College Tournament on November 16-17.
