Brian McConnell Claims Second All-America Honor of the Year
OSHKOSH, Wis. - Elmhurst runner Brian McConnell claimed his second All-America honor of the year by placing fifth in the 1,500 meters at the NCAA DIvision III Championships at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
McConnell, who previously earned All-America accolades in the indoor mile run, qualified for the championship final by placing fourth in the first heat of the preliminaires with a time of 4:03.83. The top four runners in each of the two heats, along with the next four fastest times, all qualified for the 12-man final.
In the finals, McConnell crossed the finish line in fifth-place, turning in a time of 3:56.02. Will Leer of Pomona-Pitzer claimed the individual title with a time of 3:53.13.
