Track Teams Take Fifth at Wheaton Invitational
WHEATON, Ill. - The Elmhurst College men's and women's track and field teams both took fifth place at the Wheaton College Invitational. The men's team scored 31 points while the women's team finished with 22 points.
On the men's side, Brian McConnell (Delavan/H.S.) won the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:29.03. Mike Ptack (Oak Park/Oak Park-River Forest) finished second in the steeplechase with a time of 9:45.91. Adam Vann (West Chicago/H.S.) placed fifth in the shot put (13.53 meters) and fifth in the discus (40.46 meters). Ryan Wasilewski (Springfield/Lanphier) finished fourth in the discus with a mark of 40.84 meters. Cedric Jones (Grand Prairie, Texas/Sam Houston) added a sixth-place finish in the 100 meters with a time of 11.26 seconds.
For the women, Katylyn Bednarski (Des Plaines/Maine West) finished fourth in the 1,500 meters in 5:09.96 while Laura Grabowski (Woodridge/Downers Grove South) finished sixth in the same event with a time of 5:24.23. Bednarski added a fifth-place finish in the 3,000 meters in 10:56.48. Michelle Smith (Berkley, Mich./H.S.) finished fourth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 19:10.10 while Lauren Ball (Mt. Pleasant, Mich./H.S.) finished fourth in the 400 hurdles in 1:08.55. Molli Hermiston (Eldridge, Iowa/North Scott) finished third in the high jump by clearing a height of 1.47 meters.
