Track Teams Run at Chicagoland Championships
CHICAGO, Ill. - The Elmhurst College men's and women's track and field teams both placed 14th at the Chicagoland Championships hosted by the University of Chicago.
The men's team placed 14th with 14 points, while the women's squad scored 18 points to place 14th.
On the men's side, Brian McConnell led the Bluejays by winning the 1,500 meters in 4:00.07. Pat Austin added a sixth-place finish in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:17.05. The Bluejays' 4x400 relay team scored Elmhurst's final point by placing eighth in 3:35.53.
On the women's side, Katlyn Bednarski led the team by winning the 10,000 meters in 38:13.84. Michelle Smith placed sixth in the steeplechase with a time of 12:09.47. The Bluejays' 4x800 relay team placed fourth in 10:48.50 to account for the team's final points.
Both teams will compete at the Elmhurst Intercollegiate Invitational on Saturday, April 18.
