Track Teams Run at Wheaton Invite
WHEATON, Ill. - The Elmhurst College men's and women's track and field teams ran at the Wheaton College Invitational. The men's team placed ninth while the women's team finished in 12th place.
On the men's side, the Bluejays totaled 21 points and were led by Brian McConnell's win in the 3,000 meters. McConnell crossed the finish line in 8:52.28 and a five-second lead over second-place finisher Jeff Pentek of St. Norbert College. Mike Ptack (Oak Park/Oak Park-River Forest) placed third in the steeplechase with a time of 9:41.80. Matt Forster (Elmhurst/York) scored the Bluejays' final five points by fourth in the javelin. Forster recorded a throw 42.46 meters to take home fourth place.
On the women's side, the Bluejays totaled two points, all coming on Michelle Smith's (Berkley, Mich./H.S.) seventh-place finish in the steeplechase. Smith finished with a time of 12:00.40.
