Cross Country Teams Run at Augustana Invitational
DAVENPORT, Iowa - The Elmhurst College cross country team each turned in strong performances at Augustana College's Brissman/Lundeen Invitational. The men's team finished in seventh place while the women's squad placed 10th.
On the men's side, the Bluejays totaled 214 points and were led by Mike Ptack's (Oak Park/Oak Park-River Forest) seventh place finish in 25:59. Pat Austin (Yorkville/H.S.) finished just behind in 12th pace with a time of 26:16. Brian McConnell (Delavan/H.S.) crossed the finish line in 28:07 (76th place) while Drew Hatzold (Itasca/Lake Park) ran the race in 28:10 (79th place). Ken Ptack (Oak Park/Oak Park-River Forest) rounded out the Bluejays' scoring with an 83rd-place finish in 28:13.
The Bluejay women placed 10th by totaling 266 points. Marisa Mele (Naperville/Neuqua Valley) led the way for Elmhurst, scoring a 13th-place finish in 22:52. Katyln Bednarski (Des Plaines/Maine West) finished 50th in 24:18 while Megan Johnson (Plano/H.S.) placed 76th in 24:48. Laura Grabowski (Woodridge/Downers Grove South) finished in 24:53, good for 81st place. Maggie McTeague (Oak Forest/H.S.) completed the Bluejays' scoring, finishing the race in 83rd place with a time of 24:54.
