Bluejay Cross Country Teams Run at NCAA Regional

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Elmhurst College cross country teams returned to action by running at the NCAA Midwest Regional. The women's squad placed 14th while the men's team finished in 17th place.

On the men's side, the Bluejays finished with 468 points to place 17th. Pat Austin led the Bluejays and earned all-region honors by placing 11th overall in 25:09.8. In the process, Austin earned the right to compete at next weekend's NCAA Championships.

Brian McConnell added a 65th place finish in 26:19.4 while Jeff Camp placed 117th in 27:14.7. Bob Spelich crossed the finish line in 27:19.5, good for 123rd place while Danny Declene finished in 153rd place in 27:52.5 Nathan Selling (162nd place in 28:04.1) and Andrew Dunham (186th place in 28:31.4) rounded out the Bluejays' top-seven.

On the women's side, the Bluejays finished in 14th place with 390 points. Katlyn Bednarski was the top finisher for Elmhurst, crossing the finish line in 21st place with a time of 22:43.6. Michelle Smith finished in 68th place in 23:40.3 while Rebekah Clark added a 79th place finish in 23:57.5. Shauna Patrowski crossed the finish line in 24:30.0 in 107th place while Megan Johnson finished in 115th place in 24:38.5. Laura Grabowski (140th place in 25:11.2) and Amanda Anderson (186th place in 26:13.4) rounded out the Bluejays' top-seven.
