Cross Country Teams Run at Augustana Invite
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Elmhurst College men's and women's cross country teams ran at the Brissman/Lundeen Invitational at Augustana College. The women's squad placed 10th while the men's squad finished ninth.
On the women's side, the Bluejays finished with 234 points. Katlyn Bednarski (Des Plaines/Maine West) led the Bluejays with a ninth-place finish, crossing the finish line in 23:09.3. Michelle Smith (Berkley, Mich./H.S.) placed 42nd (24:10.8) while Rebekah Clark (Aledo/H.S.) placed 54th in 24:30.7. Megan Johnson (Plano/H.S.) finished right behind Clark in 55th place (24:32.6). Laura Grabowski (Woodridge/Downers Grove) rounded out the Bluejys' scoring with a 92nd place finish in 25:15.7.
For the men, the Bluejays totaled 279 points. Pat Austin (Yorkville/H.S.) led the Bluejays by placing fourth overall with a time of 25:26.8. Brian McConnell (Delavan/H.S.) placed 36th (26:52.7) while Bob Spelich (Peru/LaSalle-Peru) placed80th in 27:48.6. Jeff Camp (Delavan/H.S.) finished 90th with a time of 27:57.3 while Danny Decleene (Sycamore/H.S.) rounded out the Bluejays' scoring with a 151st place finish in 28:47.6
