Cross Country Teams Run at NCAA Regional
OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Elmhurst College men's and women's cross country teams closed out the 2007 season by running at the NCAA Midwest Regional. The men's team placed 11th while the women's team finished 17th.
The men's team scored 325 points and were led by Pat Austin's (Yorkville/H.S.) 46th-place finish in 25:23.82. Drew Hatzold (Itasca/Lake Park) finished in 61st place with a time of 25:36.20. Mike Ptack (Oak Park/Oak Park-River Forest) finished right behind in 62nd place with a time of 25:36.30. Brian McConnell (Delavan/H.S.) finished in 66th place in 25:38.03 while Travis Shepherd (Sandwich/H.S.) finished 100th in 26:25.20.
On the women's side, the Bluejays finished 17th with 472 points. Michelle Smith (Berkley, Mich./H.S.) was the top Elmhurst runner, finishing in 73rd place with 23:29.13. Megan Johnson (Plano/H.S.) placed 75th with a time of 23:30.25 while Laura Grabowski (Woodridge/Downers Grove South) placed 86th in 23:44.22. Rebekah Clark (Aledo/H.S.) finished 101st in 23:56.38 while Maggie McTeauge (Oak Forest/H.S.) rounded out the Bluejays' scoring in 137th place with a time of 24:34.39.
