Cross Country Teams Run at UW-Oshkosh Invite
OSKOSH, Wis. - The Elmhurst College cross country teams ran at the UW-Oshkosh Invitational with the women's team taking 10th place and the men's squad finishing 12th.
On the women's side, the Bluejays finished with 262 points and were led by Marisa Mele's (Naperville/Neuqua Valley) 12th-place finish in 2:07.77. Megan Johnson (Plano/H.S.) finished in 62nd place with a time of 23:47.11 while Michelle Smith (Berkley, Mich./H.S.) finished in 67th place in 23:50.24. Maggie McTeague (Oak Forest/H.S.) placed 75th in 23:59.01 while Laura Grabowski (Woodridge/Downers Grove South) rounded out the Bluejays' scoring in 94th place (24:12.15). Rebekah Clark (Aledo/H.S.) (98th place) and Emiily Mills (St. Joseph/St. Joseph-Ogden) (147th place) rounded out Elmhurst's top-seven.
In the men's race, the Bluejays finished with 303 points. Mike Ptack (Oak Park/Oak Park-River Forest) led the Bluejays with a 14th place finish in 24:38.65. Pat Austin (Yorkville/H.S.) placed 65th with a time of 25:36.30 while Drew Hatzold (Itasca/Lake Park) finished just behind in 68th place in 25:38.90. Brian McConnell (Delavan/H.S.) scored a 100th place finish in 26:01.31 while Travis Shepherd (Sandwich/H.S.) rounded out the Bluejays' scoring in 145th place with a time of 26:32.62. Bob Spelich (Peru/LaSalle-Peru) (166th place) and Danny Declene (Sycamore/H.S.) (186th place) rounded out the Bluejays' top-seven.
Both teams will run at the CCIW Championships on Saturday, October 27.
