McPherson Named Interim Tennis Coach
ELMHURST, Ill. - Former Bluejay tennis standout Anthony McPherson has been named the interim head coach of the Elmhurst College men's tennis team.
McPherson, who had been serving as an assistant coach for the Bluejays, takes over the coaching duties after Henry Stanford resigned to take a position at Capital University.
A 2007 graduate of Elmhurst College, McPherson finished his playing career as one of the most decorated tennis players in school history. A three-time College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) all-conference selection, McPherson earned first-team all-conference honors during his junior and senior seasons.
McPherson closed out his four-year career with a 61-23 record in both singles and doubles play. He ranks fifth in school history in both career singles victories and career doubles victories. He holds the single-season record for wins at No. 2 singles by posting an 18-4 record during the 2006 season. He also holds the singles season record (along with Dan Faretta) for most wins at No. 2 doubles (18-2 during the 2004 season).
