Men's Soccer Team Downed By Chicago

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Elmhurst College men's soccer team slipped to 6-3-1 overall after dropping a 3-1 road contest at the University of Chicago.

Chicago (6-1-2) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute when Stanton Coville scored off of a Edgar Friloux cross. Elmhurst evened the score six minutes later when Randy Warren scored on penalty kick.

Chicago reclaimed the lead in the 40th minute when Garrett Laird tipped in a shot from Alex Clifford. The Maroons led 2-1 at the break and tacked on an insurance goal in the 48th minute when Alex Clifford scored from a Jan-Michael Geurra assist.

Chicago outshot Elmhurst 18-12 in the contest.

Sebastian Domczewski recorded seven saves in goal for the Bluejays while Chris Giusto stopped three shots in net for the Maroons.

Elmhurst resumes CCIW play on Saturday, October 3, by hosting Illinois Wesleyan University at 2:00 p.m.
