Pair of Bluejays Earn CCIW Player of the Week Honors
ELMHURST, Ill. - Elmhurst College men's soccer players Keith Thurman and Sebastian Domczewski have both garnered Player of the Week honors from the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW). Thurman was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week while Domczewski was tabbed as the conference's Defensive Player of the Week for the inaugural week of the 2009 season.
Thurman, a sophomore midfielder, turned in a career performance in Elmhurst's 6-0 season-opening win at Monmouth College on September 1. Thurman tied Elmhurst single-game records for goals in a game and points in game by scoring four goals and totaling eight points in the Bluejays' victory.
Domczewski, a junior goalkeeper, helped lead Elmhurst to a 2-1-0 record last week while allowing only two goals in 257 minutes of action. He played 77:30 minutes of scoreless soccer and recorded two saves while combining for Elmhurst's 6-0 shutout win at Monmouth. He allowed just two goals while recording three saves in a loss to DePauw University on Saturday (September 5). Domczewski closed out the week by by tallying five saves and not allowing a goal in the Bluejays' 1-0 win at Wabash College. For the week, Domczewski posted a 0.70 goals against average.
Elmhurst currently has a 2-1-1 overall record. The Bluejays host Robert Morris University-Lake County on Sunday, September 13, at Langhorst Field.
