Bluejay Soccer Team Falls in Double Overtime

ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College men's soccer team slipped to 3-4-2 on the year following a 2-1 double overtime loss to Concordia University (Wis.). Concordia improved to 4-3-3 on the season.
After a scoreless first half, Concordia got on the scoreboard first in the 58th minute. Mike Bruckner fired home a blast after an initial Falcon's shot was blocked.
Concordia goalkeeper Thomas Anderson was issued a yellow card on a foul inside the goal box, setting up Elmhurst's first goal. Tommy Gilbert (Canyon Country, Calif./Canyon) evened the match in the 66th minute with the penalty kick.
Neither team could score in the first overtime and Concordia's Bruckner netted the game winner in the 104th minute of play on a 20-yard blast.
Elmhurst outshot Concordia 19-11 and had a 13-3 advantage on corner kicks.
Britt Blackwell (Lake Zurich/H.S.) stopped six shots in goal for the Bluejays. Anderson netted six saves for Concordia.
Elmhurst continues CCIW play on Wednesday, September 27, when the Bluejays travel to Wheaton College.
