Tom Hunka Earns CCIW Honors
ELMHURST, Ill., September 20, 2005 -- Elmhurst College’s Tom Hunka (Lake Zurich-H.S.) has been selected as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin’s (CCIW) men’s soccer Player of the Week after leading the Bluejays to a 2-0 record last week.
Hunka, a sophomore forward, scored a pair of goals while leading the Bluejays to a pair of victories last week. He scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the Bluejays’ 3-0 win over Benedictine University on September 14. On Friday (September 16), Hunka broke a 2-2 tie with the game-winner in the 86th minute against Edgewood. Hunka leads the Bluejays with five goals this season.
Hunka was a second-team All-CCIW selection in the Bluejays’ inaugural men’s soccer season in 2004.
The men’s soccer team is off to a 4-4 start to the 2005 season. The Bluejays host Concordia University (Ill.) on Saturday, September 24.
