ELMHURST, Ill. - First half goals from Phil Ruskin (Gainesville, Fla.-Buchholz) and Eric Davenport (Flossmoor/Homewood-Flossmoorpropelled the Elmhurst College men's soccer team to a 2-1 win over Illinois Wesleyan University. The Bluejays improved to 8-4 overall and 2-0 in the CCIW with the win.

Ruskin put the Bluejays up 1-0 in the 30th minute after Ruskin beat his defender to a pass from Simi Wakawa (Toledo, Ohio-Toledo Christian) and beat IWU goalkeeper Ryan Smith in a one-on-one situation.

Davenport made it 2-0 Bluejays in the 37th minute after he netted a goal on a Tom Hunka (Lake Zurich-H.S.) feed.

The Titans (3-5-3, 0-2-2 CCIW) closed to within a goal in the 77th minute when Chris Miller converted a penalty kick.

Britt Blackwell (Lake Zurich-H.S.) stopped four shots in goal for the Bluejays.

Elmhurst continues CCIW play on Wednesday, October 12, when they travel to Kenosha, Wis. to face Carthage College at 7:00 p.m.
