Men's Soccer Team Announces Incoming Student-Athletes
ELMHURST, Ill. - Sixteen student-athletes have committed to attend Elmhurst College next fall where they will also compete on the men's soccer team.
Joe Altal - Forward - Waterford, Wis. (Waterford Union) Coach Di Tomasso on Altal - "This player is a workhorse. Joe has a great future as an offensive player."
Henrique Boscolo - Midfielder - Marshall, Mich. (H.S.) Coach Di Tomasso on Boscolo - "We are excited to have Henrique join us. He brings tremendous skill and a great knack for passing into our center midfield. His best soccer is yet to come, therefore we feel like we found a gem."
Brian Chrencik - Defender - Darien, Ill. (Downers Grove South/Lewis Univ.) Coach Di Tomasso on Chrencik - ""Brian has great experience coming from a season at Lewis University. He possesses a great understanding of the game and is incredible in the air. We look for Brian to compete for a spot in our defense right away. Coming in as a transfer with a year of experience under his belt, we will also look for leadership from Brian."
Carlos Flores - Midfielder - Aurora, Ohio (H.S.) Coach Di Tomasso on Flores - "Dynamic, daring, and fluid are a few adjectives that describe this young player. Carlos will bring style and skill that is unmatched to our team. I look for him to contend right away within our midfield."
Daniel Gordon - Midfielder/Forward - Pickering, Ontario, Canada (Notre Dame Catholic) Coach Di Tomasso on Gordon - "Daniel brings a different flavor to our team with great skill, quickness, and an ability to play most positions on the pitch. Daniel is assertive and competitive, which are two attributes that make him fit into our program well. Great things are expected from him."
CJ Hamilton - Midfielder - Ajax, Ontario, Canada (Pickering) Coach Di Tomasso on Hamilton - "This guy is dynamic! CJ can get after it in midfield, displaying great skill and creativity while playing solid defense. We look for great things from him."
Cary Kendzior - Defender/Midfielder - Sarasota, Fla. (H.S.) Coach Di Tomasso on Kendzior - "Defensive excitement is how I would describe Cary. He is a blue collar worker with tremendous speed and work ethic. Relentless when it comes to tackling, Cary will help anchor our defense immediately."
Brian McMahon - Forward - St. Charles, Ill. (St. Francis) Coach Di Tomasso on McMahon - "Brian is a potent striker who knows how to score goals. He is also a tremendous basketball player making his height a huge asset for us. High expectations are in order for Brian as we need a tall impact player up front."
Riley Niles - Midfielder - Phoenix, Ariz. (Desert Vista) Coach Di Tomasso on Niles - "Coming off a state final appearance in high school out in Arizona, I believe Riley has what it takes to get it done at the next level. He comes from great coaching and works very hard. We look for solid things from him."
Tim Piotrowski - Midfielder - Schaumburg, Ill. (H.S.) Coach Di Tomasso on Piotrowski - "I cannot say a bad thing about Tim. He comes from a great background and plays consistently at a high level. We look for Tim to come in and compete right away for that center midfield position. Coming from the Chicago Sockers alone gives our program a boost."
Daren Scarberry - Goalkeeper - Grove City, Ohio (H.S.) Coach Di Tomasso on Scarberry - "Coming from the Columbus Crew Academy team, Daren has all the experience we are looking for in a goalkeeper. He has great reflexes, and is assertive between the posts. We look for him to compete for the starting job right away in 2008."
Matt Sterner - Forward - Naperville, Ill. (Naperville Central) Coach Di Tomasso on Sterner - "Speed, speed, and more speed, is how to describe Matt. He has great agility and I believe his best soccer is yet to come in college. Matt is a competitor through and through and will really help the intensity of our players, not to mention he can score goals!"
Keith Thurman - Forward - Lombard, Ill. (Willowbrook) Coach Di Tomasso on Thurman - "Keith is a local talent that has all of his best soccer yet to come. Throughout his career he has lit up the scoring ranks! He has a real knack for scoring goals and putting himself in a position to be effective for the team. Keith is expected to contribute right away with his aggressive style of play and great attitude on and off the field."
Evan Warner - Midfielder - Waukee, Iowa (H.S.) Coach Di Tomasso on Warner - "Evan is coming off a great year of club soccer where his team won the Disney Showcase event. Evan possesses great quickness and speed while displaying incredible skill on the ball. We look for great things from him immediately as a midfielder."
Kyle Wright - Defender/Midfielder - Rochester Hills, Mich. (Brother Rice) Coach Di Tomasso on Wright - "Kyle comes from a great soccer background where he has established great habits. He can bring a sense of quickness and skill to our midfield, making our team more efficient."
Christian Zachrich - Defender/Forward - Fort Wayne, Ind. (South Side) Coach Di Tomasso on Zachrich - "Christian can win the ball in the air all the time. A hard-nosed defender who will compete in any situation, he will really help us in the back which is how we build our teams. I look for Christian to achieve great things.
