Men's Soccer Team Left Out of NCAA Tournament
ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College men's soccer team's season came to a close when the Bluejays learned that they did not receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.
After finishing as the runner-up in the CCIW and reaching the CCIW Tournament finals, Elmhurst was hoping to receive one of the 16 at-large bids that were available to the tournament. The Bluejays finished the season with a 14-5-2 overall record.
"I am certainly disappointed with the results of the tournament selection," said Elmhurst coach Dave Di Tomasso. "Without our yellow card mistake we would have certainly been selected and I feel for our players. However, we proved ourself as one of the best teams in the country and I was hoping for a better result from the regional committee.
Despite the disappointment of being left out of the tournament, Di Tomasso is confident the Bluejays' future still looks bright.
"We have a great nucleus of players returning next season," said Di Tomasso. "I think the future of the Elmhurst College men's soccer program remains bright."
