Men's Soccer Team Keeps Rolling With 3-1 Win

Box Score

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Elmhurst College men's soccer team won its 10th straight contest and remained unbeaten in CCIW play by defeating Carthage College 3-1.

Elmhurst (13-1-1 overall, 5-0 CCIW) got on the scoreboard in the 30th minute when Kevin Davey (Tallahassee, Fla./Maclay) netted his fourth goal of the season.

The Bluejays made it 2-0 in the 73rd minute when Lukasz Masolak (Downers Grove/Downers Grove South) scored off an assist from Davey.

Carthage (9-5-2 overall 3-1 CCIW) cut the lead in half in the 87th minute when Joey Monegato headed home a Chris Fidlow free kick.

Elmhurst answered right back, however, as Jon Brehm (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) blasted home a goal less than a minute later to give the Bluejays the 3-1 win.

Britt Blackwell (Lake Zurich/H.S.) recorded six saves in goal for the Bluejays.

With the win, the Bluejays moved a step closer to their first ever CCIW Championship. Elmhurst needs just one win in their final two games to clinch at least a share of the CCIW title.

Elmhurst hosts Manchester College on Saturday, October 20, at 2:00 p.m.
