Men's Golf Team Takes Third at Benedictine
LISLE, Ill. - The Elmhurst College men's golf team wrapped up the fall portion of its schedule by taking third place at the Benedictine University Invitational. The Bluejays shot a two-day total of 596, finishing just four strokes behind second-place finisher, Edgewood College. Luther College won the event with a 583.
Kyle Mann (Hinsdale/Central) led the way for Elmhurst, shooting a 145 (74-71) to tie for fifth place. Seth Birkholz (Forreston/H.S.) fired a 147 (75-72) to tie for ninth place while Kurt Dietrick (Oak Forest/H.S.) tied for 19th place with a 151 (71-80). Dan Roth (Plainfield/H.S.) added a 28th place finish by shooting a 155 (78-77). Josh Magee (Ionia, Mich./H.S.) placed 58th with a 171 (93-78).
The Bluejays' junior varsity squad also competed at the event and tied for 13th place in the team standings. Freshman Justin Maturo (Carol Stream/Glenbard North) tied for 15th place by shooting a 150 (76-74).
