Pair of Bluejays Earn CCIW Honors

ELMHURST, Ill. - Elmhurst football players Randy Wright and Tyler Lomnicki have both been recognized as CCIW Players of the Week for their efforts in Elmhurst's 31-6 victory over the University of Chicago.

Wright was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week, while Lomnicki was tabbed as the conference's Special Teams Player of the Week.

Wright, a junior linebacker, led Elmhurst's defense with a team-high 12 tackles in the Bluejays'' victory over Chicago. He recorded eight solo tackles and also registered 2.5 tackles for loss, including 1.5 quarterback sacks.

Lomnicki, a senior punter/kicker, had a solid performance in the Bluejays' win at Chicago. He converted all four of his extra-point attempts and also booted a 35-yard field goal. Lomnicki also averaged 44.09 yards per punt while punting four times. He boomed a 52-yard punt in the victory.

Elmhurst (3-0) opens CCIW play on Saturday, October 3, by traveling to Augustana College.
