Bluejays Picked Fifth in CCIW Football Poll
ELMHURST, Ill. - August 6, 2009 - The Elmhurst College football team has been picked to finish fifth in the 2009 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin preseason (CCIW) coaches poll.
Coming off its best record in over 20 years (7-3 overall, 4-3 CCIW), the Bluejays finished the preseason poll with 28 points, just two points behind fourth-place Illinois Wesleyan University.
North Central College was picked to win its fourth straight conference championship. The Cardinals totaled 48 points and six first-place votes.
Wheaton College totaled 42 points and recorded a first-place vote to place second in the poll. Augustana College finished in third place with 36 points and the final first-place vote.
Carthage College, Millikin University, and North Park University rounded out the poll with 20, 13, and seven points, respectively.
Elmhurst returns eight starters on defense and six on offense. The Bluejays open the 2009 season by playing at Benedictine University on September 5.
