John Scardullo Named CCIW Player of the Week

ELMHURST, Ill. - Elmhurst linebacker John Scardullo (Monee/Peotone) has been named the CCIW's Defensive Player of the Week.

Scardullo, a sophomore, earned the honor for helping Elmhurst to a 23-10 win over the University of Chicago.

Scardullo recorded 10 tackles, including seven solo stops. He also recorded one of the two sacks registered by the Bluejay defense. Trailing 10-3 at halftime, Elmhurst's defense held Chicago, who entered the game with the number one offense in the nation, to only 81 yards of total offense in the second half. The Maroons crossed midfield only one time in the second half and Scardullo promptly killed that drive with an interception.

Two weeks ago, Scardullo was named to D3football.com's Team of the Week for his play in the Bluejays win against Benedictine. For the season, he leads the team in total tackles (21), tackles for loss (four) and forced fumbles (three).

Elmhurst travels to Olivet College on Saturday, September 23.
