D'Angelo Earns D3football.com Honor

ELMHURST, Ill. - Elmhurst wide receiver Matt D'Angelo (McHenry/East) was named to D3football.com's Team of the Week following his record-breaking performance in Elmhurst's 35-14 win over Benedictine.

The award is the second honor of the week for D'Angelo who was named the CCIW's Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.

D'Angelo, a senior wide receiver, registered the best single-game performance by a wide receiver in Elmhurst history in the Bluejays' 35-14 win over Benedictine University on Saturday (September 6). D'Angelo accounted for all five of Elmhurst's scores and broke or tied three single-game receiving records in the win. He equaled Elmhurst's single-game record for receptions by catching 13 passes. He broke the school's single-game record for touchdown receptions (five) and receiving yardage (256). By combining his receiving yards with his punt/kick return yards, D'Angelo accounted for 352 all-purpose yards in the victory.

Benedictine had no answer for D'Angelo who scored on touchdown receptions of 12, 63, 61, 11, and 27 yards.

Elmhurst (1-0) travels to Olivet College on Saturday, September 13.
