Brent Ruch Earns All-America Honors

ELMHURST, Ill. - Elmhurst senior Brent Ruch has earned All-America honors from D3hoops.com for the second consecutive season. A fourth-team All-American selection last year, Ruch was named to the All-American second-team this season at center.

Earlier this season, Ruch earned his third straight first-team College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) all-conference honor by leading the team in scoring (18.0 points per game) and rebounding (7.4 rebounds per game). A three-time CCIW Player of the Week this season, Ruch ranked third in the league in scoring (17.9 points per game) and fourth in rebounding (7.4 per game). He also led the CCIW in field goal percentage, shooting .621 in league contests.

Ruch, who also earned first-team all-region honors from D3hoops.com, departs Elmhurst with career totals of 1,516 points, 768 rebounds, 202 assists, 103 steals, and 109 blocked shots.

His 1,516 points and 768 rebounds both rank sixth all-time at Elmhurst. He also ranks fifth all-time in field goals (588), and ninth in steals. He is Elmhurst's all-time leader in blocked shots (109), field goal percentage (.610), and games played (107). He is the only player in Elmhurst history to record over 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 100 steals, and 100 blocks.

Elmhurst finished the 2008-09 season with a 20-8 overall record. The Bluejays finished second in the CCIW and qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the third time in school history. Elmhurst was ranked 14th in the final D3hoops.com poll.
