ELMHURST, Ill. - For just the third time in school history, the Elmhurst College men's basketball team has been selected to play in the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament. The Bluejays will host a first-round regional on March 6-7 at R.A. Faganel Hall (221 Walter St., Elmhurst).

On Friday (March 6), Elmhurst will host the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at 8:00 p.m. Friday's opening game will feature Washington University (Mo.) facing Lawrence University at 6:00 p.m. Friday's winners will face off on Saturday (March 7), at 7:00 p.m.

Fans of Washington, Lawrence, and Wisconsin-Whitewater will have an opportunity to purchase advance tickets through their respective University's athletic departments. Elmhurst fans will have an opportunity to purchase advance tickets at the R.A. Faganel Hall ticket window beginning on Tuesday (March 3), at 12:00 p.m.  The ticket window will be open on Tuesday (12 pm - 4 pm), Wednesday (9am-4pm), and Thursday (9am - 12 pm).

Ticket prices are $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for students and seniors. Children two-years-old and under will be admitted free of charge. Please note that as an NCAA Championship event, no free passes will be accepted.

"I'm thrilled that our team was selected to play in the NCAA Tournament," said Elmhurst head coach Mark Scherer. "It's an added honor to be able to host these games in our gym."

Elmhurst, ranked 20th in the latest D3hoops.com poll, has a 20-7 overall record. The Bluejays finished the regular season with a 19-6 mark and placed second in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW). Elmhurst also finished as the runner-up in the CCIW Tournament this past weekend. The Bluejays toppled Augustana College 59-53 on Friday (February 27), before falling to Wheaton College 67-63 in the tournament final on Saturday (February 28).

Elmhurst has made two previous trips to the NCAA Tournament. The Bluejays first qualified for the tournament during the 1991-92 season and posted a 1-1 record in two contests. Elmhurst's last postseason trip came during the 2000-01 season, when the Bluejays captured a CCIW title and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament with a 1-1 mark.
