Men's Basketball Team to Host Food Drive
ELMHURST, Ill., December 11, 2008- The Elmhurst College men's basketball team will be holding a food drive to benefit the food pantry of the Elmhurst Walk-In Ministry. The food drive will take place during the annual Bluejay Classic men's basketball tournament on December 19-20.
Elmhurst College is offering free admission to the Bluejay Classic men's basketball tournament in exchange for a donation of a non-perishable food item, personal hygiene item, or paper product. A donation is good for a one-day tournament admission; however, donations will be accepted on both days of the tournament.
The Bluejay Classic basketball tournament features a pair of games on Friday (December 19) evening, and a pair of contests on Saturday (December 20) afternoon. On Friday, the tournament begins with top-ranked Washington University (Mo.) facing Eureka College at 5:00 p.m. Elmhurst College (ranked seventh in the latest D3hoops.com poll), will face Benedictine University in the tournament's second game at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, the tournament consolation game is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., while the championship game will tip off at 4:00 p.m.
All donations will benefit the food pantry at the Elmhurst Walk-In Ministry. The Elmhurst Walk-In Ministry serves Elmhurst residents, families with children in Elmhurst schools, and the DuPage PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter) program.
