Brent Ruch and Ryan Burks Named to All-CCIW Squad
ELMHURST, Ill. - For the second consecutive season, Elmhurst College's Brent Ruch (Farmer City/Blue Ridge) and Ryan Burks (Manito/Midwest Central) have been named to the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's all-conference men's basketball team. Ruch was named to the first team while Burks was chosen to the second team.
Ruch, a 6-9 junior center, was a unanimous pick to the first-team all-conference squad for the second-straight season. A two-time CCIW Player of the Week this season, Ruch ranks second on the team in scoring with an average of 16.2 points per game. He also leads the team in rebounding (8.5 rebounds per game), assists (74), and field goal percentage (.632). He is currently breaking his own single-season field goal percentage record (.617) that he established last year.
In CCIW contests, Ruch averaged 15.9 points and 8.4 rebounds. He ranked third in the league in rebounding and sixth in the conference in scoring. He also ranked second in the league in field goal percentage (.571) and free throw percentage (.886) while tying for second in the conference in steals (19). He also ranked fourth in the CCIW in assists (41).
Ruch needs just 13 more points to reach 1,000 for his career. His 75 career blocks ranks second in school history while his 549 career rebounds ranks ninth in Elmhurst history.
Burks, a 6-4 junior guard, earned his second consecutive second-team selection after leading the Bluejays in scoring with an average of 17.2 points per game. Burks also led the team in 3-pointers made (65) and free throws made (122). A CCIW Player of the Week earlier in the season, Burks ranked second on the team in rebounding, averaging 5.8 rebounds per game.
In CCIW games, Burks averaged 17.4 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. He ranked third in the league in scoring and fifth in rebounding. He also ranked third in the league in free throw percentage (.883) and fourth in the conference in 3-pointers made (35).
Burks has career totals of 915 points and 300 rebounds. His 126 career 3-pointers ranks fifth in Elmhurst history.
Elmhurst (18-7 overall, 8-6 CCIW) has qualified for the upcoming CCIW Tournament. The fourth-seeded Bluejays face the tournament host and top-seed Augustana College on Friday, February 29, at 8:00 p.m.
