Ruch Named CCIW Player of the Week

ELMHURST, Ill. - For the second time this season, Elmhurst College's Brent Ruch (Farmer City/Blue Ridge) has been named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's (CCIW) men's basketball Player of the Week.

Ruch, a 6-9 junior center, helped guide the Bluejays to a pair of victories last week. On Wednesday (February 13), Ruch scored 17 points in the Bluejays' road win at Carthage College. He shot 5-of-8 from the floor and finished a perfect 7-of-7 from the foul line. On Saturday (February 16), Ruch recorded a double-double to pace the Bluejays in a 58-54 win over North Park University. He scored 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field and also pulled down 14 rebounds in the win.

Ruch, a first-team All-CCIW selection last season, currently ranks second on the squad in scoring (16.5 points per game) while leading the team in rebounding (8.8 rebounds per game).

Through 12 CCIW contests, he currently ranks sixth in the league in scoring (16.4 ppg) and third in rebounding (8.9 rpg). He also ranks second in the league in field goal percentage (.579) and third in free throw percentage (.881). Ruch is also ranked among the league leaders in steals, averaging 1.42 per conference game.

Elmhurst has a 17-6 overall record and is currently tied for third in the CCIW with a 7-5 conference record. The Bluejays wrap up the regular season this week by hosting North Central College on Wednesday (February 20) and then traveling to Wheaton College on Saturday (February 23).
