Bluejay Men Down Alma 79-65

ELMHURST, Ill. - Playing in their second game in less than 24 hours, the Elmhurst College men's basketball team defeated Alma College 79-65.
Elmhurst, ranked 14th in the latest D3hoops.com poll, wrapped up the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 10-1 record.
The Bluejays led from start to finish, never trailing in the contest. Elmhurst built an 18-point advantage in both the first and second halves and cruised to the 79-65 victory. The Bluejays were able to rest the majority of their starters in the second half, as no Bluejay starter played more than 18 minutes.
Jared Hintzsche (Kirkland/Hiwatha) came off the bench to score a career-high 14 points while grabbing a team-high eight rebounds. Mark Aloisio (West Chicago/Wheaton Academy) added a career-high 11 points in the win. Dustin Bainter (Macomb/H.S.) and Chris Childs (Barrington/H.S.) each came off the bench to score nine points. Brent Ruch (Farmer City/Blue Ridge) added eight points, all in the first half.
Elmhurst shot 57.8 percent (26-of-45) from the floor and 37.5 percent (3-of-8) from downtown. Alma (0-9) shot 46.9 percent (23-of-49) from the field and 42.1 percent (8-of-19) from beyond the arc.
Jordan Redditt led Alma with 18 points while Matt Brown scored 17.
Elmhurst opens CCIW play on Wednesday, January 9, by hosting Millikin University at 7:30 p.m.
