Elmhurst's Ruch Named CCIW Player of the Week

ELMHURST, Ill. - Elmhurst center Brent Ruch (Farmer City/Blue Ridge) has been named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's (CCIW) men's basketball Player of the Week.

Ruch, a 6-9 junior, helped guide the Bluejays to a 2-0 record last week while averaging a double-double. On Tuesday, Ruch scored a game-high 23 points and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds in Elmhurst's 74-51 win over MacMurray. Ruch shot 9-of-12 from the floor and also finished with five assists, two steals and a block. On Saturday, Ruch scored 16 points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds in the Bluejays' 64-51 win over Eureka. He was a perfect 6-of-6 from the floor in the game. For the week, he averaged 19.5 points and 11.4 rebounds while shooting 83.3 percent (15-of-18) from the floor and 100 percent (8-of-8) from the foul line.

Through three games this season, Ruch is averaging 19.3 points and 10.7 rebounds per game while shooting 79.3 percent from the floor.

Ruch, a D3hoops.com preseason Fourth Team All-American, earned first-team all-conference and third-team all-region honors last season while averaging 13.4 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.

Elmhurst, ranked 18th in D3hoops.com Top-25 poll, is off to a 3-0 start. The Bluejays travel to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Wednesday, November 28.
